Applecare Australian Consumer Law

Mac owners can check with an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for Australian and New Zealand consumer laws, but we cannot guarantee that every employee will be aware of this policy. The amendment to the Directive takes effect today, i.e. 13 December 2017. Under Australian Consumer Law, the remedy to which you are entitled if a product does not meet a consumer warranty depends on whether the breach of the warranty is serious or minor. Information on Australian consumer laws can be found on the Australian Consumer Rights website at consumerlaw.gov.au. Apple offers a summary of consumer rights, its one-year limited warranty, and optional AppleCare+ coverage on its website in Australia and New Zealand. For Australian consumers: The rights described in this warranty are in addition to the statutory rights you have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other applicable Australian consumer laws and regulations. Our goods come with warranties that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Protection Act. You are entitled to compensation or reimbursement for any major loss and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You also have the right to have the goods repaired or replaced if they are not of acceptable quality and the defect does not constitute a major failure.

Repair of the goods may result in loss of data. Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type instead of being repaired. Refurbished parts can be used to repair goods. If your product is defective, you can make a claim under the Australian Consumer Act, the Apple Limited Warranty, or the optional AppleCare or AppleCare+ Protection Plan (as applicable).
